OU Fans Want Baker Mayfield’s Heisman Park Statue To Depict Him Planting The Flag After Beating Ohio State

I think we can all agree that this Saturday Baker Mayfield is going be taking home that heavy ass trophy we like to call the Heisman. If we’re being honest here, there’s not even a close second and we might as well just give it to him now.

That means that Baker is going get his own statue added to Heisman Park back on campus in Norman joining the likes of Billy Sims, Sam Bradford, and of course Jason White (who could forget).

Now obviously, when you get your own statue, you want to know what the pose is going to be because when it’s done, it’s done. There’s no going back. Oklahoma fans and students already have the perfect idea and they even started a petition for it — make the statue depict Baker planting the flag at Ohio Stadium.

Feldman tweeted that a few hours ago and now it’s at 4800 signatures with a goal of 5000. I think there’s pretty much a zero percent chance that the Oklahoma administration allows this, but just the idea alone is awesome. And if it did actually happen, it instantly becomes one of the best statues out there.

Saoirse Ronan Says Her New Movie Lady Bird Will Make You Want to Call Your Mom

Saoirse Ronan is the type of casually unassuming young actor who might just bring her mother along to an interview — which is exactly what she did when she stopped by POPSUGAR’s office to talk about her new film Lady Bird. It was a fitting choice given the alternately painful and delightful coming-of-age film’s storyline. At the heart of the movie is the fraught but fiercely loving relationship between high-school senior Lady Bird (Saoirse) and her mother, Marian (Laurie Metcalf). Saoirse’s own mom — who she noted was jetlagged after flying in from Dublin just the day before — hadn’t yet seen the film when we spoke. But Saoirse said she fully intended to watch it with her, joking that it’s exactly the kind of movie that makes you want to call your mom, if only to apologize for «being so crap as a teenager.»

Lady Bird does portray all the highs — sometimes the literal ones — and lows of teenage life with a level of candor we don’t always see on screen. Saoirse, now 23, admitted that she had some anxiety about watching her portrayal of Lady Bird for the first time with that in mind, so much so that she recruited her best friend to down three glasses of white wine with her before they watched it together. «For me, I’ve never enjoyed watching anything I’ve been in,» Saoirse said. «And from the first frame, I’d been clutching her hand, and I started to slowly let go and lean forward and was so into it as an audience member. I’ve never had that experience before. It was fantastic.»

Saoirse and I also discussed the raft of sexual abuse claims rocking not only Hollywood, but also the broader culture, which she admitted left her feeling both sad and «very disappointed.» While she was clear that «it would be wrong to say we’re all shocked that this was going on,» she did express hope that, as more women come forward, it will protect more of us from pervasive harassment and assault in the future.

The cultural climate, no doubt, makes the Greta Gerwig-directed Lady Bird an especially refreshing offering in late 2017. But while the film is currently racking up critical accolades, Saoirse is already onto the next. She recently wrapped on Mary Queen of Scots, in which she plays the complicated and iconic royal, alongside Margot Robbie. That film won’t hit theaters until 2018, but you can catch Saoirse in Lady Bird in theaters now.

Ann Curry Doesn’t Really Want To Talk About Matt Lauer Right Now

Ann Curry

After NBC announced yesterday morning that they had canned Matt Lauer for allegedly being the creep we all sorta knew he was, Ann Curry was asked about the situation. Ann is still “processing” it all.

People was pre-scheduled to interview Ann for her PBS docuseries, We’ll Meet Again. Pre-scheduled or not, good timing is good timing. They asked Ann about Matt Lauer’s newly-fresh firing, which makes sense because she used to co-host Today with him and he’s been accused of playing a big part in her departure from the show. I was kind of hoping Ann would respond by cackling a loud laugh. Instead, she kept it tasteful. Ann refused to talk specifically about Matt Lauer, but she commended all the women who have come forward with their terrifying tales of working under a powerful slimeball.

“The women’s movement got us into the workplace, but it didn’t make us safe once we got there. And the battle lines are now clear. We need to move this revolution forward and make our workplaces safe. Corporate America is quite clearly failing to do so, and unless it does something to change that, we need to keep doing more ourselves.

I admire the women who have been willing to speak up both anonymously and on the record. Those women need to keep their jobs, and all women need to be able to work, to be able to thrive, without fear. This kind of behavior exists across industries, and it is so long overdue for it to stop. This is a moment when we all need to be a beacon of light for those women, for all women, and for ourselves.”

But is she cackling in private? Just a little bit? Maybe not. A source tells UsWeekly that Ann isn’t twirling around her office while singing “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year.”

“Everything has been insane for Ann today. Everyone has been very supportive of her though and offering kind words. She has been very diplomatic when responding to people and isn’t relishing in it as people might think she should be. She has been getting so many phone calls that people can’t even get through.”

Ann Curry’s phone sounds busy. I hope she’s got a good outgoing voicemail message to inform everyone why she’s unavailable at the moment and to answer the number one question they might have. I might suggest something like this:

Hi, you’ve reached Ann Curry. I can’t come to the phone right now because I’m busy working, unlike some unemployed assholes who will remain nameless. For those wondering, no, I take no joy in Matt’s firing. Zero. None at all. Is my sarcasm registering over this thing? Eh, I’m sure you’re getting it – please leave a message!

Tennessee Fans Chant “We Want Kiffin”, Start Petition To Bring Lane Back To Knoxville

Let’s take a live look at how things are currently going at Tennessee…

Annnnd it’s a total shit show. I can’t believe we’ve gotten to this point, but here we are. Tennessee fans are BEGGING the man who ditched them in the middle of the night for a better job after just one season to come back home.

Home, as in the place they said they would never welcome him back to. Not even if there was a fire.

Oh, and to just add a little more fun to all of this, we have fans who started this petition, which, as I’m writing this, is at over 8,000 signatures. At the pace it’s at, it’ll easily hit 10,000 by dinner time.

A year ago if you asked UT fans if they would take Kiffin back, they would’ve slapped you silly. Now they’re chanting his name at basketball games, writing on the giant rock, and creating petitions all so they can avoid a Dave Doeren hiring.

Somehow Kiffin always wins in the end.

Of course, he’s playing right along this morning… what a hot streak this guy has been on lately

More from the chaos at the Vols basketball game last night:”Fire Currie” chants everywhere, security ripping down signs left and right, and kids getting slammed

Why Margot Robbie Didn’t Want to Spend Much Time With Tonya Harding Before Playing Her

In taking on the lead role in I, Tonya, Margot Robbie had the tough task of portraying not only an Olympic figure skater but also a public figure involved in a scandal that many people remember very well. Both she and Sebastian Stan, who plays Tonya Harding’s ex-husband Jeff Gillooly, were able to study their real-life counterparts via online footage, but they also met Harding and Gillooly face to face. For Stan, this really helped him get into character, but Robbie was a little hesitant to spend too much time with the former figure skater. Here’s what Robbie and Stan had to say at a Q&A at the Toronto Film Festival when asked if meeting Harding and Gillooly made them sympathize with them more:

Margot Robbie: «It did, which is why I didn’t want to spend too much time with Tonya before we started shooting. I didn’t want to pull back anything in the performance and in the story. Craig [Gillespie, who directed the movie] and I flew up to Portland and met with Tonya and we only spent a couple of hours with her, and I think it was better to keep it that way. I think otherwise I would’ve probably had too much empathy for her.»

Sebastian Stan: «I sought him out. It took me a while, he wasn’t returning my calls right away. But finally I tracked him down. No matter what the situation, you’re always feeling some kind of responsibility for the person because they’re a real person and we have a script to honor, and that was always going to be my main task, no matter what, without judgment of what any character was doing. And with him, it was just to learn as much about him as possible and try to figure out why people do what they do.»

Jennifer Lawrence Didn’t Want To Talk About “mother!” As Much As Darren Aronofsky Did

'Mother!' Premiere - Arrivals

Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronoksky always felt extremely random. It seemed that the only thing they had in common was mother!, the film they made together. Well, they’re not together anymore, and as it turns out, they were barely even bonded over mother! talk while they were still together.

JLaw recently sat down with Adam Sandler (who for some reason now looks like a haunted calculator salesman) to talk acting for Variety’s Actors on Actors series. We all know that audiences and critics were extremely divided on mother!; some thought it was a fever dream of genius and a many thought it was bloated and try-hardy. Adam asked Jennifer if she ever reads anything about her performances, and she replied that she doesn’t really do that. Unfortunately, during her last press tour she was hooking up with a guy who loved nothing more than to spend every waking moment conducting a post-mortem on mother! reviews.

“We’d be on the tour together, I’d come back to the hotel and the last thing I want to talk about or think about is the movie, and he comes back and that’s all he wants to talk about.

I was doing double duty of trying to be a supportive partner while also being like, ‘Can I please, for the love of God, not think about mother! for one second?’ And then he would start reading me reviews, and then I finally was just like, ‘It’s not healthy! Neither of us are doing it!’”

Adam Sandler added that he also doesn’t read anything about his films, and that the last time he did was around Billy Madison. That’s…probably a good idea that he doesn’t read anything about his films.

I honestly thought Jennifer Lawrence was a bit more clever. How did she not think to rig up a cardboard cutout of herself with a recording saying “Uh huh…uh huh…oh yeah? Uh huh” so she could sneak off while her boyfriend drones on about their film’s Rotten Tomatoes score. I just hope whatever goats she gets on her new goat farm are quiet ones. She doesn’t need to get any paranoid thoughts about hearing her goats bleeting, “MAAAAAA” and wondering if they are trying to complain to her about mother!.
