Michelle Obama’s Father’s Day Message to Barack Will Make You Weep Happy Tears

Michelle Obama took time out of her blissful vacation with Barack to send him a Happy Father’s Day message that had everyone on the internet weeping — happy tears, of course. «Happy #FathersDay @BarackObama. Our daughters may be older and taller now, but they’ll always be your little girls. We love you,» the former First Lady wrote on Instagram along with a throwback photo of Barack and their daughters, Sasha and Malia.

Of course, Barack being the great man he is, had the perfect response to Michelle’s sweet shout out. Read what Barack had to say about being a proud dad ahead, then check out all of his cutest moments with Sasha and Malia over the years.

The Obamas Are «Just Breathing, Y’all» and My God, Do They Look Good Doing It

Brian’s lovely story about Mr. Rogers made me immediately think, «Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping,» when I saw this story of the very thoughtful and kind woman who helped 50 children find safety and comfort after the bombing in Manchester last night. — (RS)

FYI: In tonight’s broadcast, Sean Hannity decided to drop the Seth Rich conspiracy «for now, out of respect for the family.» Then he went on a rant against liberal fascists. Yes, I watched the first ten minutes. And no, I don’t know why I’m twitching uncontrollably.

It was long past time for the statues of the Confederate war leaders to come down in New Orleans (and everywhere in the South). Included in this excellent history lesson is a link to New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s impassioned speech detailing the necessity for the removal of the statues. It’s worth reading both the article and clicking through to read the speech. — (Upworthy)

Jessica Simpson isn’t pregnant and yay for her! However, this interview with Ellen makes me wonder how in the hell she raises the 2 kids she does have. Bless her heart. — (Celebitchy)

Here’s some fascinating insight into the likely deterioration of Donald Trump’s mind based on insights from linguistic experts. (StatNews)

President* Trump visited Israel («after visiting the Middle East» — headdesk. Yeah, no one’s ever going to mistake him for a Rhodes Scholar, that’s for damn sure.) and signed the guestbook at the Holocaust memorial, Yad Vashem. Or he signed a middle school yearbook. Hard to tell which. — (Business Insider)

Vanity Fair has several different covers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It makes me so sad to think this may be the last cover of a magazine that Carrie Fisher will ever grace. — (Lainey)

Oh, Rebel Rebel, I didn’t know about any of this (did you guys all know about this?) but now that you’ve gone and made a big ol’ deal and lawsuit out of it, EVERYBODY is going to know! That feels counterintuitive. — (Dlisted)

The Obamas are «just breathing, y’all» and my god, do they look good doing it! — (HuffPo)

Alec Baldwin’s Lyme Disease was no joke. I’ve known a couple of people who have had it and it sounds horrific. I feel for anyone going through that. — (Celebitchy)

MiMi is back with some Bryan dude, but honestly? I can’t even care because I can’t get beyond the phrase «[…] they were eating out of each other’s mouths.» So. Yep. — (LG)

Michael Chabon’s Moonglow is fiction, but he is more autobiographical in this story of his grandfather’s deathbed confession than in previous works. Borisanne says, "He has an ability with simile that dances next to synethesia, and then blows it out of the water." Are you a fan of Chabon’s writing? (Cannonball Read 9)

Sadly, as reported earlier, we lost Sir Roger Moore. But the sweet story below is such a wonderful tribute to a man who clearly understood the impact he could have on someone’s day. H/T Hannah Sole

The Obamas’ Valentine’s Day Messages Will Have You Side-Eyeing Your Significant Other

Barack and Michelle Obama are currently enjoying their much-deserved time off since leaving the White House last month, and on Tuesday, the couple shared heartfelt Valentine’s Day messages to each other via social media. In true ridiculously romantic Obama fashion, Barack wished Michelle a happy holiday when he shared a photo of the couple snuggling during a video taping at the White House in 2015, writing, «Almost 28 years with you, but it always feels new.» Michelle followed up with a similar sentiment when posting a snap from their recent beach getaway, toes in the sand, calling Barack «the love of my life and favorite island mate.»

Michelle and Barack may have left the White House, but they’ll live in our hearts forever.

Donald Trump’s Inauguration Cake Was Copied From Obama’s On Purpose

TrumpCake

Many feel that this weekend’s inauguration has been the jankiest since Mamie Eisenhower dropped her top and whipped them out after doing too many shots off the ice luge at the 34th. Adding to that general air of “is this really happening?” was on Friday night when celebrity cake maestro Duff Goldman tweeted that this year’s inauguration cake looked suspiciously like the one HE made for Obama four years ago. Melania bakes, we all thought?

Was Trump’s cake rebelling and making its own sly statement about our new regime and its lack of imagination and creativity ala Rep. Joyce Beatty? That shady cake!

No, it turns out that Trump’s people wanted the exact same cake. The owner of Washington D.C.’s Buttercream Bakeshop, Tiffany MacIsaac, explained what went down on Instagram yesterday.

Tiffany told the Washington Post (via CNN) that she had suggested her clients let her use the Obama cake as merely an inspiration for this years cake, because what frosting artiste wants to do what’s already been done? You don’t want the DNC (or every other human rights organization/liberal cause group) sending Ariana Grande down to your shop to lick your donuts out of revenge for cake plagiarism on behalf of Trump. But, nope, copy that cake.

“They said, ‘Nope, they want this exact cake. It’s perfect.’ And we said, ‘Great,’ ” MacIsaac told the Post.

Tiffany is donating all cake profits to a worthy cause – the gays. Tiffany, I’m gay and I adore buttercream frosting. Respond in the comments and I’ll give you my home address.

Malia and Sasha Obama’s Cutest Moments With Dad Barack

It’s no secret that the Obamas are a tight family, but it’s always so heartwarming to see their loving moments time and time again. From his numerous quotes on fatherhood to watching the two girls come into their own these past few years, he usually has a permanent smile on his face (and a protective arm around their shoulders) whenever they are together. Sasha, 15, and Malia, 18, have shared plenty of cute sisterly moments during their time in the White House (including this gem with Ryan Reynolds), but keep reading to see their best father-daughter snaps throughout the years.
