The Sweet and Uplifting Way Princess Diana Told William About His Father’s Affair

Prince William had an especially close bond with his late mother, Princess Diana, and has talked openly about their close relationship in recent months ahead of the 20th anniversary of her tragic death. While William hasn’t been quite as outspoken about the impact that his parents’ divorce had on him and his brother, Prince Harry, there are a few instances that likely influenced and cemented the connection he had with Diana at the time.

Diana and Prince Charles separated in 1992 amid rumors of infidelity on both sides, but particularly concerning Charles’s ongoing affair with former girlfriend Camilla Parker-Bowles. It was in 1986 that Charles rekindled their romance, and when Diana caught wind of it, she didn’t back down; the normally shy princess pulled a badass move when she confronted Camilla (at her sister’s birthday party, no less) about the affair, destroying what little harmony was left in her marriage. By 1995, Diana made another brazen gesture when she did a sit-down, televised interview with BBC’s Martin Bashir. In it, she not only made the infamous quote, «There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded,» but she also revealed that she told William, then 13, about his father’s extramarital affair. «I told William, ‘If you find someone you love in life, you must hang onto it and look after it,'» Diana said. «‘And if you are lucky enough to find someone who loves you, then you must protect it.'»

She went on to admit that she didn’t want to end the marriage, saying, «I don’t want a divorce, but, obviously, we need clarity on a situation that has been of enormous discussion over the last three years,» adding, «I await my husband’s decision of which way we are all going to go.» In an unprecedented move, the queen sent letters to Diana and Charles requesting that they divorce immediately. The divorce was finalized on Aug. 28, 1996, and Diana was killed in a car accident almost one year later. And judging by William’s picture-perfect relationship with wife Kate Middleton, we have to imagine that he has taken his mother’s advice to heart.

Vladimir Guerrero Celebrates DR Father’s Day With a Monster Softball Bomb

So apparently it’s Father’s Day in the Dominican Republic today, and former Expos/Angels great Vladimir Guerrero is marking the occasion the only way he knows how: cranking bombs. Yes. Vlady is now 42 and sporting a major dad bod, but you better believe the bat speed is still there to do damage in softball games.

Vlad Jr. needs to get to the Big Leagues ASAP, I need a close version of this swing in my daily life again:

Good to see Vlady put his head down and run the bases like he’s been there before. We’d wait to see him upset the softball purists who guard the game’s unwritten rules.

Oh wait!

This German Royal Just Got Married Despite His Father’s Public Opposition

Prince Ernst-August Jr. of Hanover married fashion designer Ekaterina Malysheva on Saturday, but it’s not their lavish royal wedding that’s causing headlines. After tying the knot during a civil service on Thursday, the pair, who have been together for eight years, pulled out all the stops for a religious ceremony in the Market Church. While the event brought out 600 guests and a sizable crowd waiting outside, there was one notable face missing: the royal’s father, Prince Ernst-August. Following his recent public opposition of the marriage, the prince, whose wife is Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III’s eldest daughter, Caroline, opted to skip.

During an interview with German newspaper Handelsblatt on Monday, Prince Ernst-August revealed that his disapproval of his son’s Russian-born, Czech-raised bride stems from his desire to retrieve castles and family property that were deeded to his son between 2004 and 2006. «The decision was not easy for me because it concerns my son,» he said. «But I am constrained to preserve the interests of the House of Hanover and the property, including cultural property, which has been its property for centuries. I continue to hope that my son will eventually think of the best interests of our family and yield. I am ready for discussion and reconciliation.»

While Prince Ernst-August Jr.’s father and stepmother were not on hand for the event, his mother, Prince Ernst-August’s ex-wife, Chantal Hochuli, did make an appearance along with some of Caroline’s immediate family. See the pictures from the extravagant wedding ahead.

Dwayne Johnson Gushes Over His «Badass» 15-Year-Old in a Sweet Father’s Day Post

Dwayne Johnson had his best girls by his side as he celebrated Father’s Day on Sunday. The actor shared two sweet posts on Instagram as he gushed about being a proud dad to 15-year-old Simone, whom he shares with his ex Dany Garcia, and 1-year-old Jasmine, whom he shares with longtime girlfriend Lauren Hashian. «As busy and complex as my life is, these simple core moments with my ohana will always be my anchor for balance and gratitude,» he captioned a shot of him with Jasmine propped on his shoulders. While we can’t get over how big his little girl is getting, it’s his lengthy post to his eldest daughter that will really bring a tear to your eye.

Even though it was his special day, he couldn’t help but gush about how inspiring his daughter is. «I’m so proud to call her my daughter and so grateful that my influence as the #1 man in her life (for now) are two fundamental things that can take her and any young girl or boy far in this world . . . hard work and kindness,» he wrote. «She also bad ass with the most razor edge, wicked sense of humor, so you know I’m proud this apple didn’t fall far from the tree.» So cute! We always love seeing Dwayne’s beautiful blended family.

John BC Got The News Today That His Father’s Day Gift Is A Trip To Lambeau Thanks To #CrownYourFather

#ad

So Crown Royal approached me like 10 days ago or so and said they were looking for bloggers to ‘Crown’ their fathers for Father’s Day this year. “Would you be interested,” they asked.

There’s still time to enter your dad for the velvet Crown painting via CrownYourFather.com on your mobile device.

Well, considering the fact that my dad keeps his Crown empties, has carried coins in his Crown bags to poker parties for like 25 years and actually drinks Crown when he’s at the lake, I said yes. Part of the crowning was to buy a gift for dad. I went back and forth on this part. Do I send dad with me next week for the College World Series title game or do I save the funds and take dad to Lambeau Field in the fall for another one of his bucket list items.

In the end I went Lambeau because it’s harder to pull off that one and it’s one of those places he’s always talked about visiting.

Here’s the trip plan:

We make the drive from Ohio to Ludington, Michigan to catch the SS Badger Ferry. We put the truck on the ferry across Lake Michigan and into Manitowic, Wisconsin, which is just 41 miles to Lambeau Field. The ferry stops running on October 15 so our choices are an early September game against the Seahawks, a 4:25 kickoff against the Bengals (not ideal since I don’t want to watch my Bengals get lit up) or a Thursday night game against the Bears.

That might just be the play here. Rivalry game. Night game. Get up there on a Wednesday night, catch the game Thursday, maybe a stadium tour Friday and then possibly Northwestern-Wisconsin on the way home on Saturday.

That’s a bucket list trip right there.

Thanks to Crown for this opportunity. I’m happy once again to be partnering with Crown Royal and I know dad is jacked up over this whole thing.

Proud Dad Jameis Spent His Father’s Day Playing Frisbee With His Fur Baby Girl

I like to check with Jameis from time to time during the offseason to see what’s going on in his life now that it’s quiet and his Florida State drama is long gone. From what I’ve come to learn about the guy from his social media trail, Famous leads a very quiet life at his Florida house and really seems to enjoy hanging out with his doodle. I know, it’s still shocking to me too.

And that’s how he spent his Father’s Day. With his fur baby girl doodle doing what dog dads do: throw the frisbee and make videos of the dog cooling off in the pool.

I don’t know why, but I’m mesmerized by Jameis baby talking his doodle. It’s stuff you don’t see in the media. Now I know what FSU fans were talking about when they said the media doesn’t show the good or soft side of Jameis. It’s definitely a media bias.

Not me. I’ve been on this Jameis/doodle train from the beginning. And I can’t stop watching him interact with that dog. I smell a Fox NFL Sunday feature brewing.

That’s a proud dad right here:
