Open Post: Hosted By Gary Fisher Watching “The Last Jedi” Trailer

openpostgaryfisher

Grab the Kleenex because the trailer dropped for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Carrie Fisher’s final film appearance and last turn as General Leia Organa. And former HSOTD Gary Fisher was just as eager to watch as the rest of the Star Wars tribe.

Entertainment Weekly notes how emotional everyone is naturally going to get seeing the late Carrie, and Gary obviously gets first dibs on the Xanax. He was Carrie’s therapy dog on paper but was so much more. Gary’s wacky tongue accompanied Carrie to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and he managed to liven up any morning TV interview his mom took part in.

Gary notes how beautiful Carrie looks, and it’s true. She’s beautifully staring down Adam from Girls (Adam Driver) while he ponders if he’s going to fire down her spaceship. A particularly rogue-ass son thing to do to his mother, don’t you think? The trailer also brings more of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and some weird otter-looking creatures that look like they’ll be a real pain in the ass. In short, it’s everything us nerds (and the box office) needs for a much-needed boost, but (assuming Adam isn’t a total Emo bitch to his mother), I just hope they let Gary don a wig and pick up where Leia left off.

Swedish Soul Singer Léon Opens Up

With a rasp reminiscent of Adele and the emotional strength of Stevie Nicks, the Swedish sensation Léon delivers heart-wrenching lyrics and heavy vocals throughout the four tracks on her newest EP Surround Me. With emotional ballads like “I Believe In Us” and the catchy Motown-inspired track “Body,” Leon shows off her sultry old soul and invites listeners to connect with her personal stories.

Léon, born Lotta Lindgren, was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden to a musical family. Growing up with strong front-women as her musical inspiration such as Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin and Beyoncé, it’s no surprise she has become the powerhouse female soloist she is today. Her first single in 2015, “Tired of Talking,” off her debut EP Treasure gave Léon an immediate fan base, anchoring her as the queen of break-up anthems. On her latest EP, Léon first gravitated towards making something “less sad.”

After getting into the studio with musician Wrabel, Léon reveals that they spent hours dissecting the state of mind Léon was in and what she was feeling. “I told them I was tired of being sad and writing sad songs,” the charming songstress says. “We played around on a grand piano and just jammed. The song was finished in like, an hour. Or maybe I blacked out during it,” she says with a sincere laugh.

The sensual song, “Surround Me,” is accompanied by a music video featuring Léon moving in reverse. Despite being shot in Iceland over the course of 48 short hours, Léon proves her talent in the video by moving flawlessly to the newly learned choreography. “You’re always a little nervous when you have such a short amount of time and you don’t really know anybody,” she admits of the filming. “But, the directors were amazing and all I had to worry about was trying to look natural!”

Léon’s natural inclination towards soulful sounds is evident on her song “I Believe In Us,” offering an inside-look at Léon’s heartache. “It’s the most honest song I’ve ever written,” she says of the track. “It was really tough to write. It’s almost too honest.”

She explains that as freeing as the writing process was, she was emotionally exhausted afterwards. “I was going through some personal stuff,” she vaguely explains. “My feelings were all over the place and so I worked with an amazing songwriter and producer to try and explain what I was going through.” Léon adds that during one of the first live performances of “I Believe In Us,” she ended up getting visibly emotional which was a first for the songstress. On tour now with Wrabel, you can catch Léon belting out her emotional and soulful songs. As far as a full-length album goes, she plans on writing as much as possible until she’s ready.

Riverdale Has Finally Cast Betty’s Older Brother, and He’s Really Hot

Riverdale is about to get even more complicated during season two. Not only will Veronica’s father (Mark Consuelos) stir up some trouble next season, but we’ll finally get to meet Betty’s long-lost brother, Chic. Newcomer Hart Denton, who previously appeared on an episode of Fox’s Lethal Weapon, has been cast as the eldest Cooper son. Even though he’s a bit younger than we were expecting (Alice gave the baby up for adoption when she was still in high school), he definitely has that Cooper family look. So, does that striking blond hair mean the popular theory that FP Jones is the father of Alice’s child isn’t true? We guess only time will tell.

Chic, who will be a recurring character on the series, is slated to come to town midway through the upcoming season. Seeing that Denton is already in Vancouver with the cast, fans are theorizing his big arrival could happen during the recently taped Christmas episode, «Silent Night, Deadly Night.» You know what they say: there’s no place like home (and a bit of family drama) for the holidays.

Another Fifty Shades Book Told From Christian’s Perspective Is on the Way

Just when we thought the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise was nearing an end with the third film, Fifty Shades Freed, E.L. James swooped in to add another new layer to her BDSM love story. On Nov. 28, James is set to release Darker: Fifty Shades Darker as Told by Christian, a retelling of her original 2011 novel, only from Christian’s perspective instead of its heroine Anastasia Steele’s (similar to her 2015 book Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as Told by Christian).

«The inside of Christian Grey’s head is a daunting place to be,» James said in a press release sent out by her publisher. «In Grey, we got the first glimpse of what makes Christian tick, but in Darker, we go deeper, into his most painful memories and the encounters that made him the damaged, demanding man Ana falls in love with. Writing this novel has been a journey of discovery, and I hope readers will find what I’ve learned as compelling as I did.»

In Fifty Shades Darker, Christian’s checkered past comes back to haunt him with a vengeance, up-ending his newly rekindled relationship with Anastasia and threatening to destroy their future as a couple. James will no doubt put her signature spin on the new edition and noted on Instagram that she hopes her fans will «enjoy it.

13 Halloween TV Specials From the ’90s That Scared (and Scarred) Us

Terrifying TV shows might be en vogue right now, but we’re convinced they wouldn’t be half as good as they are if Halloween TV specials from the ’90s didn’t pave the way. OK, OK — that might be pushing it (the connections between Frasier and The Walking Dead are few and far between, we admit). But there’s something about reminiscing about those sometimes-scary, sometimes-funny, sometimes-bizarre hours of television that always leaves us with a craving for candy corn. From Goosebumps to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, we’ve rounded up our favorites, but if you’re in the mood for a real scare, check out the best horror movies streaming on Netflix this month.

A Timeline of Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova’s 16-Year Romance

Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova are one elusive couple. The two, who started dating in 2001, have managed to keep their romance mostly out of the spotlight. Seriously, they haven’t been seen in public together in years, but there was one exception when Anna posted a photo on Instagram with Enrique and her younger brother in 2016. The couple has now been together for more than 16 years, and even though we don’t know too many details about their love, the small tidbits we do have are really adorable.

Florida Man Packers Fan Gets Burned Trying To Wear A Flaming Cowboys Jersey After Packers Game In Facebook Live Gone Wrong

via Facebook

That’s Florida Man Timothy Salyers. He was severely burned Sunday in a Facebook Live video gone wrong where he tried to wear a flaming Dallas Cowboys jersey after the Packers won Sunday’s game. It was all over a bet that which ever team lost, a jersey would burn. One thing led to another and a Cowboys jersey was burning and Salyers thought he’d try to wear the flaming jersey.

Now he’s in a burn unit. From TCPalm.com:

When the Packers won 35-31, records show Hook and Salyers went outside to light the Dallas jersey on fire.

Salyers told sheriff’s deputies “he then grabbed the jersey with his right arm and attempted to put it on while it was on fire.” Hook drove him to Indian River Medical Center. Records show Salyers sustained third-degree burns on his right arm and hand, as well as second-degree burns on his back.

No charges are being pressed at this time.

I’m still waiting to hear why Salyers, a Packers fan, would want to wear some worthless flaming Cowboys jersey. Totally not worth the Facebook Live views, bro. Then again, this is Florida we’re talking about so not much makes sense.

Inside Madonna’s Insane Skincare Line

Just like the rest of us, when Madonna sleeps face down, she wakes up with puffy eyes. But unlike us, instead of reaching for a run-of-the-mill cold cream or slice of cucumber, the Queen of Pop dabs on her very own skincare line MDNA Skin, which she created with high-tech Japanese beauty brand HTG along with New York-based dermatologist-to-the-stars Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank. The 6-treatment collection targets a range of skincare needs, from a facial serum for dark spots to a tightening and softening $ 600 chrome clay mask that comes with a “magic wand” (more on that later.) Having gone platinum in Japan, the line recently made its debut in the U.S., where it’s available exclusively at Barneys or online.

Here, Dr. Frank fills us in on how he brought the pop star’s famed skincare routine to the masses.

What’s it like to work with Madonna?

Madonna gives 110%. Some people might call it obsessive. I say she’s meticulous. She’s not half-assed about anything. She doesn’t ask more of people than she gives herself. She wanted an eye mask that feels good and that you wouldn’t have to sit still to wear. She tested dozens of masks on herself until she found the perfect one, it’s a little larger than most and has a unique fit which means you can multitask while you wear it. Before she picked the particular fragrance she wanted for her rose-scented mist, we were Fed Ex-ing samples back and forth like crazy, there must have been over 50 packages until she found the exact scent she was looking for. The smell, the texture of the product, the packaging, she was involved in all aspects.

What’s the “secret sauce?”

The line is naturopathic and luxurious. It’s very 21st century, a mixture of artisanal and high-tech. We used rich mineral waters and clay from the Tuscan mountains, which have anti-inflammatory properties when combined with cutting edge devices. The dual-headed Skin Rejuvenator (that magic wand-like tool used with the clay mask) has a magnetic head that removes the clay along with impurities and another that emits electric micro-currents that deliver serums to penetrate the skin more deeply. The Rejuvenator can also detect the degree of moisture in the skin and adjusts current and voltage levels accordingly. It’s revolutionary.

The consumer wants more than just a cream they can slather on, they’re going to be using more and more small devices like this. I don’t want to put myself out of business, but it’s the future of skin care at home.

What’s Madonna’s skin care routine like at home?

Madonna’s very disciplined. She eats healthy, she doesn’t drink, smoke, doesn’t go out in the sun, she gets a good night’s sleep and she comes into the office frequently for treatments. But as a performer, Madonna spends a lot of time wearing heavy makeup and sweating under hot lights, which is extra taxing on her skin.

She bought one of the machines that we use in the office for oxygen facials for her personal use. And, she goes on tour with an aesthetician who gives her facials everyday. Now that’s more than the average person want or needs, but people can get “Madonna Facials” in our New York office (and soon, around the country) which combine the MDNA products with light, oxygen and micro-current procedures.

The other skincare tip that both Madonna and I agree on: A positive attitude is key to looking and feeling good.

Someone Hold Ivana Trump’s Champagne, Sweetie Dahling, Because She’s Going In On The Trump Wives

wenn23857685

Donald Trump is the cattiest queen of the Trump family, but it looks like Ivana Trump learned a thing or two from him, because she used one manicured paw to drag Trump wife #2 Marla Maples by the hair and used her other manicured paw to drag current Trump wife Melania Trump by the hair. And yes, Andy Cohen is loving this Real Trumpwives of Shitsville reunion moment.

Ivana is still whoring out her book Raising Dumps (typo and it says), and during an interview on Good Morning America yesterday, she said that she talks to Jabba the Trump every couple of weeks. The Cremaster Patsy Stone then bragged about how she has the direct number to the White House, but she never uses it, because she doesn’t want to make Melania jealous. Ivana then jokingly said that she’s basically the First Lady. That hair yank was subtle, but it was strong, and I’m sure that tug made Melania’s face lift a bit. And yes, Ivana will send Melania a bill for that quick facelift tune-up. Ivana doesn’t do anything for free, dahling. Here’s what Ivana said:

“I [don’t] really want to call him there, because Melania is there. And I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy or something like that, because I’m basically first Trump wife. OK? I’m first lady.”

I’m now imagining First Lady Ivana. She wouldn’t pretend to care about stupid and boring things like bullying or helping children or reading. She’d keep it real and make her platform something that is near and dear to her heart. She’d teach the children of America the art of gold digging!

You would think that Melania Trump’s office wouldn’t have time to respond to petty shit like this. But if you think that, then you must not know that Melania Trump’s office doesn’t do shit, so of course they have time to respond to petty shit like this. And they did:

“Mrs. Trump has made the White House a home for Barron and the President. She loves living in Washington, DC, and is honored by her role as first lady of the United States. She plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell books. There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex, this is unfortunately only attention-seeking and self-serving noise.”

Um, Ivana and Melania do realize that it sounds like they’re fighting over two things they don’t really want: a job and Trump.

Third Lady Melania totally didn’t have anything to do with that statement. Because if she responded herself, she would’ve had her assistant write this:

“Mrs. Trump will gladly take Ivana Trump up on her offer to take over as First Lady and move into the White House. Mrs. Trump already has her bags packed and only requests that Ivana Trump tells her yacht staff, I mean, Mrs. Trump’s yacht staff to put the champagne on ice and lay out the Balmain bikini. Since Mrs. Trump has now publicly accepted Ivana Trump’s offer, there is no go-backsies allowed. It’s like a law or something.”

And about Marla Maples…

People got excerpts from Ivana’s book where she went in on home wrecker grand champion Marla for “knowingly entering into a relationship” with her husband the father of her three children. Ivana says she will never forgive Marla for breaking up her marriage, and also went in on Tiffany Trump’s mom for going on Dancing with the Stars.

“No class!” Ivana said, adding that she’s been asked to appear on the show “a hundred times — and offered a mint.”

“But I wouldn’t go on that show, dancing in those tiny dresses with the boobs and butt hanging out,” she added.

“The showgirl appeared on DWTS when (because) her ex-husband was running for president! It was disrespectful to do the show. I never would have embarrassed Donald that way.”

It’s obviously not possible for Jabba the Trump to feel embarrassment, but still, how dare Marla embarrass her reality trick ex by going on a reality show!

And Ivana is right about Dancing with the Stars. It’s trashy and tacky, unlike the classy and tasteful reality gem: Ivana Young Man.
