Dunker Extraordinaire Larry Nance Jr. Engaged to Hailey Pince

Believe it or not, we have non-LaVar/Lonzo/LaMelo/Magic Johnson Lakers news to report as dunker extraordinaire Larry Nance Jr. proposed to his girlfriend of three-plus years, Hailey Pince.

Larry, who averaged seven points and six rebounds in 63 games last season and is reportedly coveted around the league, hit Instagram on Tuesday to reveal that he popped the question:

Like Nance, Hailey attended the University of Wyoming and was a swimmer. She also dropped in on IG with some videos of her new ring:

Huge week for the Lakers: Kobe’s numbers are getting retired, LaVar predicted a 50-win season, and now Nance is engaged.

Open Post: Hosted By This Princess Diana Floral Tribute

As we know, art is subjective and one man’s masterpiece is another man’s toilet bowl that needs scrubbing. They may be the same man but that man’s perspective is key to making a meaningful commentary on creation, representation and aesthetics. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and The Eye of The Beholder should be the title of a Lifetime movie based on controversial “well dressing” done in the likeness of Princess Diana in the quiet British town of Chesterfield.

According to The Guardian:

A floral tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales produced as part of a traditional festival for dressing wells in Chesterfield has been described as “horrendous” and “an insult” to the late royal.

The flower arrangement, decorating a well in Chesterfield’s market place to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death, was mocked online after the Derbyshire town’s council published pictures on Facebook.

Let’s see… as I hold my thumb up to gauge how well the artist or artists handled visual perspective in this piece, I am first struck by the rather big dick that centers the face. Now it could be that the artist or artists intended this, um, structure, to represent the nose one would normally expect to see at the center of a portrait. It is a bold choice indeed. As I move my gaze downward I can see the artist or artists have made an attempt at a mouth-like structure. The materials choice (egg shells, sunflower seeds, maggots?!?, actual human teeth removed from a corpse?) is bold and the effect is quite striking. But to my mind, the heart and soul of this piece are the emotive eyes which scream out to the viewer, “WHYYYYYY?”. But again, this is only my opinion and while I can’t claim any fancy art history degrees or other such bona fides I can confidentially say, what the actual fuck.

Amber Tamblyn Isn’t Done With James Woods

Reasons To Be Pretty Happy After Party - Arrivals

There used to be a real Crankasaurus Rex on my floor in college who spent his Fridays pregaming with scotch and Fox News and basically screaming about how the country was going to shit because the rest of us were drinking cheap beer and sleeping around and, well, I kind of forget the rest because, well, cheap beer. It was always him face planted outside the dining hall at 3AM because he was too drunk to make it into the chicken finger line, and I’m pretty sure that just about sums up how James Woods works.

James showed he was a Hungry, Hungry Hypocrite the other day for getting all high and mighty about how the love fest between a 24-year-old and a 17-year-old in Call Me By Your Name is icky because he claimed it promoted pedophilia. Armie Hammer, who stars in the movie, pointed out James was 64 when he was porking a teenager, and all of gay Twitter did a giant snap in Z formation at the shade of it all. Because these things always snowball, Joan of Arcadia Amber Tamblyn came out of the woodwork to show God is always watching, especially when James tried to pick her up and take her to Vegas when she was sixteen. James has since denied that shit happened, but Amber is back to show not only is God always watching, he’s keeping a logbook, too. Amber screenshot a text exchange with a friend who backed her side of things, and she also warned James that she’s not putting down her shank anytime soon and went in on him in an open letter.

In the open letter to James, which he probably didn’t read since it’s kind of hard to read while trying to pick up your next piece outside of Hollywood High, Amber writes about the time he tried get with her 16-year-old not-famous-yet self, and she also slammed him with this.

The saddest part of this story doesn’t even concern me but concerns the universal woman’s story. The nation’s harmful narrative of disbelieving women first, above all else. Asking them to first corroborate or first give proof or first make sure we’re not misremembering or first consider the consequences of speaking out or first let men give their side or first just let your sanity come last.

So it is with hope, Mr. Woods, that I ask you to go inward now and ask yourself the hard stuff. The ominous unconscious stuff. The archetypal masculinity stuff. The power-play stuff. The perversion persuasion stuff. The secretive stuff. The id’s most cherished stuff.

Only you and your darkness know who you are. Only you and your actions know what you’ve done. That means you and only you have the power to change your behavior.

Are you and your history with women and girls a part of the problem, Mr. Woods?

Go now and look in the mirror and ask yourself if this is true. Go on, I’ll wait. But I won’t hold my breath.

You can read Amber’s open letter at Teen Vogue. And here’s that screenshot:

While it’s not exactly Kim Kardashian secretly filming you on Snapchat ironclad proof, I pretty much see all I need here. A diner, James Woods, Las Vegas…yeah, seems like an entirely logical, skeezy trinity. Pervy case closed!

Discover Nico Segal’s Jazz Fusion Band

If you’ve ever been to a Chance the Rapper performance, you’re familiar with the spiritual awakenings they tend to inspire. Between his band The Social Experiment and the guest artists he frequently welcomes onstage, Chance frequently surrounds himself with his musician friends, and the camaraderie that exists between them is something to be admired. Among them is fellow Chicagoan Nico Segal, f.k.a. Donnie Trumpet, a 24-year-old Grammy-winning trumpeter has been touring and recording with the likes of Chance the Rapper, Vic Mensa and other artists since 2009. Recently, Segal has returned to his roots, and brought a slew of friends along, to form the boundary-breaking jazz band The JuJu Exchange.

“I had this yearning to play the music I grew up on and to explore more of my instrument in front of people,” Segal explains. “I’ve known Julian Reid since high school so I reached out to him about playing jazz music and the project evolved from there.”

Following Chance’s suit, The JuJu Exchange is made up of close friends including classically trained pianist Julian Reid, Reid’s brother and drummer Everett Reid, bassist Lane Beckstrom and several other close family-friends, which is not uncommon for Chicago-based artists, Julian Reid says. “I love that about the Chicago music scene. Artists are making music as family,” Reid says. “You want to stay close to each other and that’s why companionship through music is so strong. That’s the message we want the world to feel; a message of making and maintaining friendships.”

The JuJu Exchange

The JuJu Exchange

The JuJu Exchange’s debut album Exchange, released on streaming platforms earlier this year, is almost entirely instrumental – a sound that, Reid hopes, will allow audiences to appreciate jazz music in a new way. “I feel like instrumental music is in a very interesting place right now,” Segal says. “Instrumentalists like [the saxophonist] Kamasi Washington are really making more of a name and sound for themselves. People in the popular music landscape are slowly but surely coming on board and I think that’s what we want to be a part of, as an instrumental group.” Still, Exchange is not purely instrumental; Jamila Woods added vocals to the song “We Good” while Big Sean, KYLE, and, of course, Chance himself also lent their voices to the project.

It’s evident that incorporating friends and family was important for this record, even down to the cover artwork. Created by a friend of the band, Boston-based visual artist Shin Maeng, the illustration features a man in an orange jumpsuit looking up at a rocket – a visual, says Reid, that was inspired by an experience he had while working at a prison in Atlanta. The men Reid worked with wore orange jumpsuits as opposed to blue, indicating that those men had been particularly aggressive or had attempted to escape the prison in the past. “We want the music to be a means for contemplating how to escape a difficult situation for the sake of leading a fuller life,” Reid says.

The album, and album art, will get a second wind this month when the physical edition is hits shelves – marking Segal’s first time releasing music in a non-digital format. “I’m really excited! I think there is something special about having a physical copy of a record and listening to vinyl, especially for this type of music,” he says of the record release. “All the textures and timbre of the sounds of the instruments are more distinct on vinyl. Plus, it’s surprising to turn on your record player and hear something that isn’t traditional jazz.”

But no format beats seeing jazz music live. Luckily, you can soon catch The JuJu Exchange performing in Washington D.C. on September 17th and in New York City on the 19th.

A Sweet Play-by-Play of That Bachelor in Paradise Finale Engagement

Although season four of Bachelor in Paradise has been plagued by plenty of drama, tears, controversies, and one heated love triangle (sorry, Deanie Babies), the finale yielded a big happy ending for the season’s most-smitten couple: Derek and Taylor.

The pair admitted that they were close to falling in love and chose to seal the deal by taking their relationship all the way in the fantasy suite. Taylor revealed that she was excited «to experience each other, but in a different way,» while Derek said he thought they could be in love by morning as long as everything went well for them that night. So, did it?

While reflecting on their time in Paradise with Chris Harrison during the aftershow, Derek surprised his new girlfriend by getting down on one knee in front of all of Bachelor Nation. «You have such a big heart and you are absolutely stunningly beautiful,» he told her. «Taylor, I love you. I choose to love you in this minute, this hour, this day, and every day from here on out. Will you marry me?»

Taylor, tearing up and clearly emotional, immediately said yes. So sweet! Take a look through the play-by-play of the moment ahead, which includes a close-up of the massive Neil Lane diamond Derek presented her with. Fingers crossed they last longer than Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi!

Ask A Wedding Expert: A Wedding Weekend at Nobu Eden Roc

Arranging a wedding means putting together much more than the ceremony. There can be countless other events involved, from rehearsal dinners to bridal showers and bachelorette parties. Add in entertaining out-of-town guests, and you have a full weekend to plan.

To find out how to make a weekend of wedding events as seamless as possible, we spoke with Director of Catering Ana Hernandez at the newly opened Nobu Hotel Eden Roc. Located directly on Miami Beach, the hotel sees its fair share of large weddings with out-of-town guests coming in to spend a weekend in the luxury oasis, and of course, to celebrate the bride and groom. Here, Hernandez breaks down her top suggestions for every wedding event at Nobu Hotel Eden Roc.

Family Events

Whether it’s  a bridal shower, a meet-and-greet or a post-ceremony brunch, the hotel provides multiple upscale venues for family-centric events. “We have a lot of brides from out of town or their families are from out of town, so they always do a meet-and-greet reception as they’re arriving,” says Hernandez. The hotel also boasts two trendy restaurants: an outpost of Nobu (of course!) and Malibu Farm. Nobu offers private spaces for upscale dinners with guests and Malibu Farm–which sits outdoors and directly overlooks the ocean–is a perfect spot for a bridal shower brunch.

The Bachelor/Bachelorette Party

Located just north of bustling South Beach, Nobu Eden Roc makes it easy to plan a classic night out in Miami at one of the many extravagant nightclubs the city has to offer. For a more relaxing alternative, the hotel can arrange a VIP cabana at the pool or beach, followed by a private dinner in Nobu’s Tappan room or a day at sea on a luxury yacht. “We often do spa days for the bridal party. That’s definitely a hit with our brides,” says Hernandez. Both the bachelor or bachelorette can opt for the choice of a VIP luxury shopping experience, private party at the sandbar, or even deep sea fishing or shark diving in Key West.

Pre-Wedding Relaxation

During the wedding weekend, Hernandez advises taking advantage of the Nobu Hotel Eden Roc’s expansive spa, which features a lounge overlooking the ocean. Enjoy a glass of champagne with your bridesmaids or fiancé while you wait for a spa treatment like the Nobu Zen massage, which includes an indulgent foot soak, personalized with your choice of aromatherapy and with the additional option of add-ons like hot stones or a salt scrub. Hernandez notes that one of the most popular couples’ spa treatments is, uniquely, acupuncture.

The Ceremony

For the ceremony the hotel offers multiple options—from grand ballrooms to a sweeping palm-enclosed rooftop. “Our original ballroom is from 1956. It has so much history behind it—very historic and iconic. Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand have performed there,” says Hernandez, “For the bride that’s looking for more of that history, that’s the perfect ballroom for them.” For something a little more modern, there are Ocean Tower ballrooms which overlook the sunset. For a very private venue, Hernandez suggests the rooftop. “It’s a very hidden space,” she says, “It’s one of my favorites because it has palm trees all around and then the sunset right behind. It’s a little hidden gem we have, overlooking the city of Miami. Brides love it because it’s very private. You can do a nice, long aisle.”

The Backup Plan

While Miami is a beautiful choice for a beach wedding, the area is notorious for its varied weather, humidity and rain. Should this affect your choice to choose the location? Hernandez says no. “For any of our outdoor spaces, we always have an indoor, backup space. I always make sure the bride envisions that space as well. If we do have to make that call, for whatever reason, they can also feel just as happy with their backup plan.” She suggests choosing a wedding date between November and March for prime weather conditions.

Her #1 Tip

“Stay in the moment,” Hernandez says. “Try to stay in the moment! It just comes and goes so fast. It can breeze right by!”

Kevin Owens Beat Vince McMahon’s Ass on SmackDown

Vince McMahon must be a huge Kevin Owens guy behind the scenes, because the CEO/chairman of WWE apparently gave the green light for KO to absolutely maul him Tuesday night on “SmackDown.”

After setting up some Hell in a Cell match between Shane McMahon and Owens (the two have been feuding forever, and Shane only does crazy matches), Owens asked for permission to “beat a McMahon senseless” if provoked. You’ll never guess what happens next… that McMahon is 72-year-old Vince and KO cuts him open with a headbutt, kicks him in the head, and caps it all off with a frog splash:

Odds of us seeing Vince get rocked like that again have to be super low, right? That’s a frog splash from a 270-pound Canadian onto an elderly dude — there are easier ways to put guys over.

Anyway… here’s that headbutt one more time:

Josh Duggar Is A (Strong Shudder) Dad Again

Ugh, Josh Duggar. The only creature on that beach so gross, the tide wouldn’t take it out.

Earlier this year, Josh Duggar and his apparently in-it-for-the-long-haul wife Anna Duggar announced they were expecting their fifth child, which they may or may not have made during a visit in sex rehab, because why wouldn’t that be something that happened?

UsWeekly says that Josh and Anna took to the family’s website yesterday to announce that on September 12, they became the parents of a baby boy. Josh and Anna are super-committed to the letter M. Their first four children are: Mackynzie (7), Michael (5), Marcus (4), and Meredith (2). Naturally I figured they would continue with the M theme and name their fifth child something like Maybeweshouldstophavingkids. But they went with something a little more normal.

“We are so thankful and happy to announce the arrival of our new son, Mason Garrett Duggar. Both he and Anna are doing well. He arrived today without complication and we already adore him. The entire family is ecstatic over the arrival of another beautiful blessing.”

I can’t believe I’m about to give a compliment to a Duggar, but I’ve got to hand it to them with that name. If you say Mason Garrett fast, it sort of sounds like Mrs. Garrett. And any name that reminds a person of The Facts of Life ain’t half bad.

They also posted a picture of Mason. Now, those could be normal baby tears. They could also be the result of Mason glancing at his parents and realizing he had been born into the Duggar clan.
